It’s not about being japanese, not about wearing thrifted clothes (BTW,where did this idea came from?) or about being natural. Why? Simply, because I think we are forgetting about the Now,there is a lot of to discuss about this subject (let’s not talk about the vegan, fur or any other debate of this kind) but that’s a view of a modern society which may or may not fit yourself AND does not make you more or less of a mori girl. That’s totally cool, I mean, maybe in Japan there isn’t that concern about nature and stuff, but I don’t think it is a must for being a mori girl. I don’t know about mixi (maybe there’s an specific idea there) but here, maybe because of the influence of the word “mori”, it kind of drifted towards a hippie-nature-loving style. She talks about some habits like going to the cafe, but that’s it. Doesn’t it seem a bit strange that with only that the community was able to create a whole lifestyle? Like…What does a mori girl eat? What kind of job she has? Does she have any pets…? If you read Choco’s list, there are few indications about lifestyle at all. When you look at the western…-no, when you look at Tumblr’s and Mixi’s idea of a mori girl (or mori folk) lifestyle you get to one conclussion: What happened? And thank you for the remarks! Some of them made me change my vission on mori. It feels as it expressed more what being mori really is. They may no vissually appear as mori but again,a lot of mori people don’t even know what mori is yet. Plus,I don’t think a mori person with the mori minset would be less mori for not wearing mori clothes.

Anyways,a lot of mori is already drifting towards strega,so it kind of doesn’t matter what you wear or if it turns out to be another style. Nobody in mori kei says “t-shirts are banned” or “if you don’t wear brown you are not mori”,so it’s a really nice ald accepting comunity but I recall the debate about fur on a certain confessions blog where they were limitating what a mori girl was just by one element like fur and other confessions about not affording some brands. The rules are not as solid as other styles. I think you were better at explaining it than me…(^ ^ U) I don’t mean “create” as in the term says, more like what the community “accepted” as guidelines, like some kind of consensus between al mori people when they realised, just like you said, that they had the same traits. What I was curious about is if mori people out of here (That means the mixi mori girls and stuff) do quite think about the same. It’s is true that a lot of people relate both. Your opinion on the conection between a mori life and the love for the enviroment is quite right. Your blog seems lovely,I’ll check more of it after finishing this ^^ Thank you so much for reblogging my post.

Does stuff like that actually ever happen? :P some of them are mental lol) because they didn’t do this or wear that. those rules can’t possibly have been intended as anything but loose guidelines to describe the general feel of the style anyway. Maybe I hang out at the wrong (right) places online, but I’ve never seen anyone being arrested by the fashion police for not being a “real mori girl” (whatever that is. When someone “becomes” a mori girl, more often than not it seems to be more a case of someone already having a certain set of prefrences (and/or lifestyle), which mori kei, when they discover it, inspire further. :)Īlso I’m a bit sceptical as to how much of a culture the mori kei community actually has -created. I would not say a connection between a slow paced and creative way of living (ie: the mori “rules”) and a nature loving, “hippie'ish” mindset is a very weird one. Personally though, I think things like wanting to experience (and preserve) natural landscapes, caring about animals, leaning towards a healthier lifestyle etc is something that for a lot of people comes quite automatic when they lead a slow paced life, live in the moment, appreciate the little things, or however you want to phrase it. Interesting reminder ^^ Those little moments are precious <3
